A whole bunch of people.
In front, a river.
No bridges.
No boats.
Just water.
And a really strange command.
“…command the priests who bear the ark of the covenant, ‘When you come to the brink of the waters of the Jordan, you shall stand still in the Jordan.’” – Joshua 3:8
“And when the soles of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off from flowing, and the waters coming down from above shall stand in one heap.” – Joshua 3:13
So, they did what they were asked to do.
And then…
“…as soon as those bearing the ark had come as far as the Jordan, and the feet of the priests bearing the ark were dipped in the brink of the water… the waters coming down from above stood and rose up in a heap very far away…”
– Joshua 3:15-16
God keeps us from, occasionally.
God keeps us through, always.
Listen. We will get to the other side.
We will.
With greater endurance, and a story to tell.
And soggy feet.
God, give us that kind of faith.
Beautiful, clear, and true. Thank you for this reminder. It’s both-and: deliverance AND marks from the journey.
Thank you, Ann. I so appreciate your support. Both-and for sure!
