10 Years

Ten years ago this week I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Never saw it coming. And while sometimes things happen that live outside our preference, I’ve discovered that in some strange ways they shape us.

They cause us, or rather help us to adjust, and trust, and pray, and believe, and go forward. A little more humble, more curious, and a whole lot more grateful.

So to my team and their skill. My doctors at Hopkins and Wilmer, and now Vanderbilt, thank you. Those long years you invested long ago are adding answers and help and quality to the lives of real people. I’m so thankful to be one of them.

To my friends. To those who pray and think and check-in and cheer, thank you. I could try to express what you mean to me, but my words would fail.

And to my family. Where do I begin? “I do, it’s a girl, it’s a girl, and we’re going to make it” remain the greatest words ever said or heard. Thank you for being my rock. When uncertainty and love tangle, we win.

And finally, to God. If you change the script, awesome. If you don’t for reasons greater, lead on.

“…  I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that he is able to guard until that day what I have entrusted to him.”

Thanks for reading some processing. I love you all.

Todd
